predicted a large increase in the number of jobs in
the Port of Santos. The survey expects 42,000 new jobs
over the next 12 years
Tony Lamers - Forecasts are optimistic in relation to
expansion of the Port and increased operations of terminals.
A survey conducted by VKS suggests that 42,100 new jobs
will be created in the region by 2020, just over half
to grow business and 18,400 for operations.
Mark Vendramini Júnior - head of consulting firm:
This study is based on investments currently being made
and others planned for the coming years, and on the
potential for investments in ports.
Anyone interested in working in logistics or building
a position in the market, will have up to three or four
years to develop professionally and get a position,
with this investment mature and in place.
Tony Lamers - Jobs will be created by companies such
as Brasil Terminal Portuário, which will be building
on the former Alemoa landfill.
Henry Robinson - CEO of Brasil Terminal Portuário
- The terminal's first phase will be ready by the first
half of 2012. Some 1,500 direct jobs and 9,000 indirect
ones will be created in the Baixada Santista region
as such.
Tony Lamers - The terminal will handle over 1 million
containers and 1 million 20,000 tons of liquid bulk
every year. Experts believe the Port's volume is likely
to reach 400 million tons.
